Since thinking about my two min opening scene i have decided not to go with doing a war drama like saving private ryan , i came to this conclusion and it would be extremely time consuming and hard to film with no real props . so i have since decided to do a chase opening titles like that in lock stock , this is NOT a car chase scene but a seen where we see people on foot getting chased i researched a few ideas this is one that i rather like :

Train Spotting - Chase scene

i am also looking at trainspotting , i like the idea of the opening scene in this movie with the voice over. From the voice over we meet the main characters and we learn about them . the shots that are used are also original , the first scene we see is of two men running down a high street , with lost of goods falling out of there jackets whilst getting chased by the police , i would like to use this idea in my opening scene.

Another example i like is that of :

lock stock - chase scene (Double-Click to enlarge)

As you can see from these screen shots it is a very fast passed chase scene with the police , which i am going to attempt to recreate .

Camera Shots From Movies

1. This is a master shot : this allows us to see most of the characters in the movie at one scene

2. This is a medium shot : this allows us to see a bit of the setting and more of the facial expressions and body language of the actor .

3. Establishing shot : this gives us an ideo of the setting , for example in this movie ( dude wheres my car ? )

4. This is a two shot : this gives us an ideo of the actors in the seen and makes us focus on them .

DOUBLE - CLICK TO ENLARGE

Camera shots of movies :

Spider Man

1. Establishing shot : this allows us to see the setting of the movie , for example in this movie spiderman , we see that the movie is set in new york city as we can see the empire state building .

2. Two shot : this allows us to see the important people in the shot and focus entirly on these two ..

3. Close up shot : this allows us to see ( in this movie the hand of spider man ) , it isnt extreme close up so we cant see the extreme detail but we can see enough , extreme close ups allow you to see in great detail .

4. medium shot : this shot allows us to see a bit of the body but more of the face and setting .

Another one of the movies that inspired me in the genre that i am focusing on is Bravo two zero. This was made in 1999 one year after saving private ryan. This just like saving private ryan i a very graphic movie , which includes gory scenes.

I have decided that for my opening titles, I am going to create a title in the action/drama/war genre. The best example for this is the film 'Saving Private Ryan'.
This is the imdb link so you can see specific details of the film.
This is the youtube video for the opening titles, showing the music and other techniques used to fit in with the film.

Mr Bean - The Holiday (Double-Click to Enlarge)

I really like the opening of this movie especially the titles , as you can see from my screen shots the opening is very simple , its just " london , june" however from that point on you will see i tried to capture what the titles did as Mr beans mini arrived . the mini actually pushes the titels from left to write which i throught was a great feature , if you look in screen shots 5,6,7,8 you will see this technique very clearly.

Lock Stock Screen shot.

As you can see , these are 10 screen shots of the opening scene of Guy Richies film , Lock , Stock and Two Smoking Barrels . from these opening titles you can tell that the film is a fast , thrilling movie. the opening title are unconventional in the sense that instead of text moving over a screen , each title is cut and has its own scene as the screen shots show us . the font used is a typewriter font , this gives us the impression that the following film may have some crime or violence involed as we see this font used in army films setting a scene i.e " 0800 hours " and so on .....
My 2 min beginning of a film - coursework

i have many rough ideas for my cousework but at this stage nothing is set in stone. i was think off doing either and chase scene like the beginning of lock stock or horror scene in the woods much like the village . if i where to do a chase scene it would have many slow motion cuts , fast passed music and many pan and track shots. again on the topic of a chase scene i would most proberbly have an scene like in snatch , where each character is paused on and a title with there name comes on the the screen.
my rough ideas for a horror opening scene would be , shot in woods it would be dark but the overcasted and maybe raining , i would like to also do a steady cam type of scene like in goodfellas.

180 degree mistake

.

This video shows us how very simple and easy it is to break the 180 degree rule . This footage was actually an accident we didn't realise in till we edited our footage that we had made a vital mistake in which we broke the 180 degree rule , so we decided to keep the footage and upload it on to our blogs so we could avoid the same mistakes .
preliminary task

This is our finished and edited preliminary task movie. The two actors are Max Levene : actor 1 and Ryan Howard : actor 2 , also in our group was Sam miller : camera man and claudia humps : director . Together we all edited the our footage as a group , we all focused very hard to point out silly and easy mistakes to make just like breaking the 180 degree rule .

This is the link to my opening title that i created using IMOVIE , i did this task to show i could create a movie title and add music to my short movie . it took me a while to get used to using the software but after a while of trial and error i got used to it . i started out by searching on goggle for images of Media , i came across one i liked of well known news papers and i drag and dropped it in to my i life project . I then set about the task of adding music to my project . i achieved this by taking a sample of gargeband and again draging it in , then came the task of adding the text and finally i used a fade in effect at the beginning .
max fine arts media, max preliminary task ........ this as you may well see is a ROUGH version of my animatic i created this animatic using a program called ADOBE IMAGE READY the pictures i used where from my story board for our preliminary task and it shows you the camera shots we used , however instead of just having a scanned image of it i wanted to try something different and i made my scanned storyboard image into an animatic .

Shot Reverse Shot
Shot reverse shot is a film technique where one character is shown looking at another character , and then the other character is shown looking "back" at the first character. Since the characters are shown facing in opposite directions, the viewer assumes that they are looking at each other.

We can see that both characters stay the same side of the screen at all times during the conversation.

THE UNBORN

This is a piece of text from the film the unborn , here we can see a classic part that often crops ups , in the genre of horror . they are usally set in a bathroom which gives us a very cold feeling as blue is a very common colour used in bathrooms. in this text taken from the film "the unborn" we can see the girl looking into the mirror , everything in the room is misty , dusty , cold and full of dark shadows again common techniques used in horror genres .

the most important part of this text is the boy in the mirror behind the girl , this is extremely common as it is a good fright for the audience and makes them jump out of there seats .

180 DEGREE RULE

... This is the master shot and we can clearly see the lady who we will call A is on the right and the man called B is on the left ...
... from this over head we can see that the camera can only go on the side of the arrow , to keep A on the right and B on the left .....

.... here again the camera never crosses the line, however if u need to cross the line you can ! , by filming crossing it so the audience know you crossed it rather than jumping the line and confusing the audience ....
.... finally you can use shot reverse shot which is when you go backwards and forwards between two cameras , the diagram shows this technique...
